| Colonsay is the main island of the Southern Hebrides.
Well it is for us despite what our larger and more prosperous neighbours
may think.
It is ideal for brewing. We have plentiful supplies of water and
the pure unpolluted Hebridean air to allow the yeast to get to work
on our ales & lager.
We are a two and a half hour ferry ride from the mainland port of
Oban – five boats a week leave the island in the summer –
three in winter when quite often the ferry is cancelled because
of bad weather.
The 120 people share the island with seals, otters, corncrakes,
golden eagles, more wildflowers that you can shake a stick at and
in the summer months lots of holidaymakers.

There are so many relics of ancient times on the island that Colonsay
and our wee joined-at-low-tide neighbour Oransay have their own
book produced by the Commission for Ancient Monuments in Scotland.
