Colonsay Brewery > The People

Colonsay Traditional Scottish Micro Brewery - The Brewer The Brewer - Chris Nisbet learnt the art of brewing from a book and countless hours of painful experimentation as he honed his craft (at our expense). As well as brewing on the island, where he is 5% of the workforce, he is a builder, air traffic control officer, airport fireman, regular fireman and has recently taken up fishing in his copious spare time. He was also, at one point, Island Development Officer, but left that post when he feared something might happen.

Colonsay Traditional Scottish Micro Brewery - The other brewer The Other Brewer - Rob Pocklington learned about beer and the brewing business at his father's knee and became such an expert he started a building business. Now back with his first love of brewing he wishes he'd never laid a brick in his life. At various times on the island when not employed at the brewery Bob is a fireman, has been an occasional oyster farmhand, golf course green keeper, bed and breakfast host, councillor and construction consultant. It seems he can't hold a job down.

Colonsay Traditional Scottish Micro Brewery - The Skiver The Former Skiver - - Was the name we had for the third member of the team David Johnston until we realised his apparent inactivity was actually a period of quite reflection on the tasks in hand. He is in fact our guiding light and all round inspirational business genius who is quickly transforming Colonsay Brewery into a major force in Scottish brewing. Elsewhere David is an unemployed journalist and writes all the copy for the website.
