Six Of The Best
We view the ferry with mixed emotions.

Sometimes we curse its expense.

Sometimes we praise its crew as we deliver more beer up the gangway.

Sometimes we moan that they've cancelled (again)

Sometimes we're amazed they get into our difficult wee pier.

Today was a good LotI day.

For visitors to the island, and even Oban, the ferry is all part of the fun. Let the cares of the mainland fall away as you crusie to your island holiday tucking into steak pie, chicken curry and other delights.

Some folk even just go for the trip and don't get off at our end - just sit tight and back to oban.

So it was today. Six blokes - friends having a wee day out - a cruise a laugh and a pint. To be exact 24 pints. The six had four each trying all three Colonsay Brewery products - and that was just on the way down. Our informant got off so we can only speculate how many they had on the way back. Cheers guys.

Patience Dear Boy
Two key members of the team away for a few days (not to say the other two are not key but in a different area) and the internet machine has been left unchecked. We're sure we could find a way of it delivering to us rather than us going looking but then that would be against the ethos off this business.
Anyway.
The orders were found on Sunday and made up ready for dispatch via our home delivery network (Colonsay's top postman Keith) and then Calmac cancel the Monday boat. I ask you. You'd think they'd never seen a puff of wind before. Joking aside, the conditions today were awful and the boat failed to sail. Hopefully there's a window in the weather for wednesday and the online orders will go. Enjoy it when it gets there.

Colonsay Takes Over The World
Not us, for once, but the Byrne family of island movers and shakers. Its has just been announced that Kevin and Christa and their three children have taken over the Highland Heritage Hotel in Crianlarich in a multi million pound deal. Actually we have no idea at all how much the deal is but it seems that's the usual phrase to use when reporting these matters. According to the P and J they plan to move it away from its current coach tour trade to a more general market. We imagine that what they need is a damned fine range of draft beers - and we know just where they could get them. Good luck Byrnes...you know where we are (next door to you).

Going Down a Treat At The Atrium
Colonsay lager went on sale this week at the Atrium Restaurant in Edinburgh, about as posh as you can get, and neighbouring Blue Bar.
They've re-ordered already with their thoughtful head of drinks James commenting:

"Our guests seem to be loving the fact that they are being offered a beer that they have never seen before. Also, it is proving a very good beer to drink with food as it isn't harshly carbonated like most mainstream beers. So, all in all a very good seller."

All joking apart its a fantastic place - the skiver first dined their not long after it opened in perhaps the early 90's or even the decade before and reckons he can still taste the fantastic pigeon and puy lentil starter in his dreams.

Brewery Contracts - - But Its Not Credit Crunched (Yet)
Colonsay Brewery is closing its regional distribution hub, it was announced today. A spokesman for the island based company said no jobs would be lost.
After two years supplying mainland Scotland from the curtilage of our of the country's most historic homes the brewery has closed the stable door, but there has been no bolting of horses.
It can be revealed the hub was secreted away in the stables of Tyninghame House

However our hub manager, and stable proprietor David H and his family have moved on meaning we have lost the use of the hub.
Never mind we'll find somewhere else soon. Thanks for the (free) ride H's and every happiness in your new home. By the way what are you planning on doing with that lovely greenhouse in the garden (joking).
