It has long been apparent to us that if anything were to happen to Chris we would be stuck. He is the head brewer and the keeper of all the secrets and working practices.
He's knackered his knee and is off work.
We're going to have to get a reclining chair in the middle of the brewery for him to sit and nurse the injury while shouting orders at the rest of us. There's a fair bit of stock at the moment -- but will it last until normal service is resumed.

We met a guy tonight who bought a bottle of our beer for the first time -- went home and drank it and that night had a long an vivid dream of being on Colonsay --- despite the fact he'd never set foot on the island. The ultimate credit crunch hoiliday if you ask us -- a bottle each for mum and dad and one split between the kids and you can write an exciting what I did in the summer holidays school essay for less than a tenner.

Our friends at Peckhams have had a couple of beer fesitvals, one in Glasgow and One in Edinburgh so of course they invited their favourite brewery to take part - and we went along too.
They were both great events - there is nothing better for any producer to stand and get instant feedback from existing customers and potential ones. Certainly both events produced plenty of potential customers if their kind comments are translated into sales.
We don't know what it is about us and Peckhams but we keep letting ourselves down. After the previous fiascos detailed previously we had a topper tonight. Turned up bright and early trying to look and sound the part. The bottom falls out of the crate in the middle of the shop sending 24 bottles of IPA crashing across the shop floor - red faces from the brewery.....again.

There is no doubt the festival is the best thing that has happened to Colonsay since God invented the sheep.
We have had more fun this weekend that you could shake a stick at. However a corporate view has been taken - what goes on on Colonsay stays on Colonsay. You'll have to come and see for yourself next year.

Head brewer Chris has, of course, been mastering his artisanal skills - but at the same time he's been working on his language skills.
This week he reckons for the first time his English vocabulary is as big as his Gaelic -- he'll be trying out all those new words on the festival goers.
