You can travel the world to see interesting sights and meet famous people . . . Or you can sit on Colonsay and wait for them to come to you.
This week, following hard on the heels of the posh people, we have had former defence secretary and ex secretary general of NATO Lord Robertson if Port Ellen, or Wee George as he is known on Islay.
Next up Scottish Finance Secretary John Swinney popped in for a pint . . . No doubt here on the recommendation of First Minister Alex Salmond a one time frequent visitor to these shores.

Now it can be revealed. Colonsay pier - late at night - a steady stream of drizzle and out of the misty looms a posh cruise ship that calls from time to time. This time on board is a "special party" who have chartered the whole ship.
Smoothly they dock and from nowhere appears the colonsay brewery vehicle. Nine cases are loaded aboard at the request of the "special party" and a short while later the boat returns into the mists. Mums the word.

On the boat down from Oban tonight we were joined by a prty of American McPhie's decedents of this island from many years ago who went to build new, and by the look of them, more prosperous lives over there in years gone by.
They must have been on their first visit (eavesdropping) and the was nearly at Inch island before they noticed the Colonsay beers on sale at the bar.
Did they make up for lost time. It was as though they were drinking the history of their own pasts as bottle after bottle was enjoyed in a wholly responsible and commendable manner. We love LotI, our summer ferry. The crew really get behind the beer on their trips to the island and they shift tons of it.
We happened to be on the same boat as them last night as they went home. It was much quieter.

Every first Monday - no excuses - a bored meeting. So today is the first of the unmoveable must do meetings that will power the business on. CANCELLED. Bob and Chris at away on the mainland looking at kit, and the skiver is away on the mainland skiving. Maybe next month.

With uncharacteristic business like dermination we sat down today and discussed the outstanding issues and made decisions on them. Firstly that there is to be a bored meeting on the first monday of EVERY month. Second we are going to give up our lonely furrow and follow the rest of the brewing industry into 500 ml bottles. We have had a brave, perhaps foolhardy, stand but our delicate economics deamnd it. Thirdly we are going to expand again and are started on the process of sourcing more tanks and a semi automated bottling line to speed up packaging.
Our label order is about to go in and a big load of bottles is being fired up. All this and production is at its full capacity as we struggle to meet summer demand.
