Classic Beer for Classic Boats
We took a call yesterday from the organiser of one of Scotland's newest and most popular wooden boat festivals - Ross Ryan of the Crinan Classic.

He wants to order Colonsay beers for this year's event in early July. No problem. In fact even less of a problem because he wants to sail overe himself to pick it up. His family have, as you would imagine in Crinan, serval boats.
However we are rather hoping he'll come across in his recently restored William Fife classic yacht.

She is one of the most beautiful boats you could ever see and would be a magnificant sight being loaded up with Classic beer at the Colonsay Pier.

Don\'t Panic Captain Mainwaring
Its only May - ok nearly the end of May - but the island is still far from being in full swing and beer stocks are perilously low already.
Brewing has happened twice this week - all available vessels are full - botting has been going on twice too and kegging. The IPA was bottled on Tuesday, and kegged, and until that moment there was a grand reserve stock of ONE keg - all very carefully planned and managed of course. No point in having stock sitting there not making money. We are planning and advertising camapaign based on the theme Please Drink Colonsay Beer Only In Moderation. We will pretend we are socially aware and get some government quango to pay for it - but in truth it may be neccessary to maintain sanity in the brewery. Whoops too late.

Major Bust Up At Brewery - SHOCK
One consequence of the appointment of Ross will be evident tomorrow when Keith returns from Glasgow. Ross is known for many things but one of the first that springs to most people's minds is his love of a well known Glasgow football club.

Keith has been in Glasgow watching the club of his dreams

go down fighting at Hampden on Saturday to - yes of course Rangers.
Lets hope we do not get an outbreak of football yobbery in the midst of our normally harmonious working environment.

New Man Appointed at the Brewery
We have decided we need a third brewing type person to take some of the strain off Bob and Chris. We enagged the services of a recruitment consultancy and they cast the net far and wide, quarter page ads in the Sunday Times that sort of thing --- and from a short list of one a final round of interviews was held recently and the ideal candidate has been appointed.
Well sort of - we asked Ross if he fancied having a go at learning the ropes and he said he might do. His skills in the kitchen are legendary and there's not a whole lot of difference between making a pot of soup and brewing so it should be fine. Of course after his giving us the once over it may take a diffferent tack abnd he may say he's not up for it after all - watch this space.

Green Welly Stop
The GWS boycott had to be suspended temporarilly the other day when our top sales exective needed a comfort stop. At least we were just costing them cash, ok a very small amount, instead of spending it. One of the blog readers contacted us the other day to say they had been in and asked for Colonsay beer to be told it wasn't stocked. Come on you lot lets have more action like this - it will be such a laugh to get them on the phone wanting beer and saying - sorry mate not enough to go round.
