Dilemmas
It was our second Glasgow farmers market on Saturday ( thanks Shirley and Happy Birthday) and again there was no lager. Sales on the island are such that there is little to spare for the outside world. So we have a meeting tomorrow and on the agenda will be - expansion. To maintain supplies we are really going to need more fermenting capacity. More capacity means more brewing which means more bottling which threatens a further erosion of a quiet life on a wee Hebdridean Island. So it will be interesting to see tomorrow how the decision making process goes. So less than three months on a bigger brewery could be on the cards. Or a revision of out plans. However the later may be difficult as there is no plan.

Reaches The Parts Other Lagers............
Its hard this advertising business. Great idea ......get a Colonsay Lager fan in a remote place - get a photograph and come up with a snappy caption. Colonsay lager - reaches the parts other lagers can't get to

Dash it. Someones already done that I'm told. Never mind - thanks to intrepid hillwalkers Crawford and Mike for supplying the photograph. Pictures of Colonsay beers in unusual places welcome.
For the record Mike is at the top of Ben somewhere or other.

Guess the speaker and win a prize
Just warmed to the idea of the last blog prize offer.
See if you can attribute this one correctly and win a bottle of yesterday's IPA.
"Its non stop sunshine for the second day running and I've been stuck in the brewery all day for two days bottling."

Quoteable Quotes
One of the nice things about the brewery is that people drop in all the time for a chat and, well actually just a chat because we don't do free beer. Anyway there were two great quotes yesterday from a couple of passing visitors. One from an American who said: "I've drunk IPA all over the world and this one is up there with the best of them."
Another was from a chap who said until now his favourite beer by far was a lager like beer brewed on an island somewhat south of here and sold under the Island name. Sorry to be so convoluted but I don't want to start inter island beer wars. Anyway that Island's loss is our gain. Guess the name of the beer and win a prize.

Two Down One to Go

Another milestone reached yesterday - sorry about the delay in bringing you the news, there tasted going on - Colonsay Brewery draught 80/- Ale is now on sale at the award wining Colonsay Hotel Restaurant and bar.
This is good news for us, but better news for the beer drinkers who have been asking for it.

It’s a great fit for a place like The Colonsay and us. The restaurant serves as much Colonsay produce as possible and it’s appreciated because it tastes so good. Now beer drinkers can have the same sort of treat. The late appearance of the 80/- has, it should be said, nothing to do with any reluctance on behalf of The Colonsay to stock it, but involves technical issues which are now overcome.
Seen here, as they say in all the best local newspapers, is from left to right, Bob the brewery, Keith the boss, Davie Sutherland and man who's invaluable advice has kept us on the straight and narrow on a whole variety of issues, and Chris the brewer.
