The guy who used to run the mainland distribution hub in East Lothian was having a tidy up over the weekend and he came across a case of the very first IPA brewed by the Colonsay brewery. From memory its probably the first beer produced here when we opened at Easter 2007. It is, we imagine, rather like coming across a bottle of 2000 Chateau Margaux and you didn't know you had. The only realy difference is that the claret will improve with age and the beer perhaps not. We'll open it at the weekend and see what its like. Quite interesting though.

All weekend we've been looking forward to Monday's delivery to the Atrium. Remember the gaff - fantastic restaurant in Edinburgh which, in the mornings, provides neighbouring office workers with the World's Best Bacon Rolls.
First part of the delivery handed over- roll order given - outside for the rest of the stock and back in again. Quick chat with the roll man and back out to the vehicle to find ...... A Bloody Parking Ticket. The bacon rolls are fantastic but not at £31.50.

There was an unusal visitor in the brewery today. He was a lie of the land man for a television production company. They're looking for a Scottish island venue to base a new series of a well known tv programme. They rather fancy Colonsay and he said he reckoned basing it round the brewery may work well. We agree. More details if or when something firm comes to light - but in the meantime keep it to yourself.

The folk from the prestigious Arisaig Restaurant in Glasgow were on holiday here last year and liked the beer and naturally thought it would go down well at their Merchant City establishment. They wanted to sell in on draught - we wanted to supply it on draught. There is no economic way in the world of getting draught beer from here to there. Its a simple as that. Even if we had several draught outlets in Glasgow and Edinburgh the cost of getting a van over and back - overnights for the driver and considerable mileage ............that's not a moan just a simple statement of fact, afterall we knew what we were letting ourselves in for when we started.
So thankfully they have decided to sell our bottles as the next best thing - and it certainly works well in other restaurants.
It looks a lovely place - we'll go there for lunch next time we're in Glasgow
