We were brewing IPA today --- and because the visitor season is nearing a lot of it will be going into kegs. The last IPA brewed had, deliberately, a slight variation in flavour. The brewers decided it needed a little more bitterness and so a small change was made to the hopping. They seemed pleased - I wonder if anyone else noticed.

We have just received our first order from the now island owned Crianlarich Hotel - recently bought by the Byrne Family.
They're stocking Colonsay IPA from opening day and hopefully the trade will grow as the hotel takes off.
Guerilla distribution is the name of the game at the Colonsay Brewery. Hanging round the ferry queue and talking folk into taking beer here and there. Glasgow and Edinburgh are the main outlets but Crianlarich is just the best ever place for us because you pass it whereever you go in the central belt. So no more I'm off to Edinburgh excuses when we are looking for a free ride to Glasgow.
In the meantime lets all drink a toast to the success of the Crianlarich Hotel.
Cheers

Amongst today's deliveries was lager to the Atrium - the posh Edinburgh restaurant with the tasteful customers who like a drop of Colonsay's finest. The restaurant is in the middle of a huge modern biuilding housing a threatre, a bar and lots and lots of prestige offices. So one little bit of the Atrium has been cordened off 8am-2pm I think and used to sell rolls and coffees. To copy M and S not just any rolls...but Atrium Rolls. So first delivery of the day was finished off with the best bacon roll and coffee you could imagine. The next delivery was almost a disatser. The shop wasn't open for business though the door was unlocked so when we went in the poor guy who own's it thought it was a raid and looked very shaky for a while. At least there's plenty on hand to calm him down.

Pride, as we all know, comes before a fall. There we were boasting of our professionalism in the palletisation of the Peckhams Order and guess what - they screwed it up.
No names, brewery individuals refered to only as B and C were so busy with their shrink wrap and pallets they appeared to have lost the ability to count.
12 cases if IPA is what was ordered 13 is what was delivered. Come on boys its easy 12 is the one between 11 and 13. We obviously need the man with the calculator and sharpened pencil down on dispatch days to check the counting. The good news is the nice lady at Peckhams says she'll pay for it anyway.
