You Can Say That Again
We've got our own wee tourist board on Colonsay - set up to try and make sure visitors get the best out of the island and enjoy themselves so much they come back.
We're not on the board directly, and anyway were too busy to go to the meeting today. However we have eyes and ears everywhere on this island. Apparently (A word used much on Colonsay to signify that which is about to follow is at best speculative and at worse downright invention) someone notice they were a brewery short of a meeting and asked that omission be dealt with for further gatherings. "After all", said our champion, "the brewery is the jewel is the island's crown".
To be fair we had never thought of ourselves in that way - but now you come to mention it .............

Hold The Front Page - Two Colonsay Men In The Cabinet
Brewery wife and school teacher Sheena Nisbet points out that in fact Colonsay has two representitives in the new ConDem Cabinet.
Danny Alexander, or little know Lib Dem MP Danny Alexander as the papers like to call him, went to Kilchattan Primary when his Dad, Dai the Potter lived on Colonsay. The author of this never met Dai the Potter even when he recently came back to do some talks on Gaelic Place Names of Colonsay.
But one island with two Cabinet members - must be good for a little brewery. He is Secretary of State for Scotland - a job rendered more or less redundant under devolution - if he's short of work perhaps he can give us a hand on bottling days.

Brewery At The Centre Of UK Power
The election has of course been exciting for everyone as we see history being made with a coalition government forming for the first time since the war.
However here at the brewery there is an added dimension to the excitement. We have a Colonsay Beer drinker in the cabinet.
New Schools Secretary Michael Gove, a frequent holiday visitor to the island, marks his arrival in these parts with a visit to the brewery shop to stock up on IPA we seem to think is his usual tipple.
Let’s hope now his feet are under the table of power he won't feel too important to come to Colonsay for his holidays. More importantly as schools secretary we think he should introduce a sensible drinking campaign to England’s children (devolved powers) and supply all schools with Colonsay beers to let the young learn moderation.

Disaster Over as Jim Fixes It
You can rely on Colonsay to throw up solutions to the problems faced by its inhabitants. There we were scratching our heads and staring at the fizzled wire and wondering what to do when onto the scene came Jim McLoughlin like Superman to the rescue. Jim is one of those characters who likes to get things done if he can and he could and so we're brewing again. Jim has two other great characteristics - often as not he is delighted to help pro bono (posh phrase meaning for nothing as if our clever readership was not up to speed with a bit of Latin) and secondly he prefers to output of a well known Glasgow Brewery to that of ours - so he won't even take a pint. Thanks Jim - we're back in business.
