High Street Slow Down Fails to Reach Colonsay
You've heard of blood on the high street, DSG's dire predicitions of a consumer strike. Well we've had just about the best week ever in the brewery shop with beer flying out of the door. So much so the head brewer had to abandon his break in Edinburgh and train and plane home to get some extra production in. Just goes to show what they say about air services not meeting a need but creating one.

As, I think, 50 per cent of passengers to fly to colonsay so far on the new service have been part of the brewery I think we need a frequent flyer discount. Or the rights for on board sales.

Cuan no Mor
Made a breezy call to the Cuan Mor for the beer order to be met with a hesitant response from Skinny the bar manager. "Oh didn't Paul phone you," he said.
No.
More hesitation and then stumbling words to the effect of they had just signed a new supply deal with S and N which was giving them beer at a knock down price but it was exclusive and they could no longer stock anyone elses.

Hard one to guage a correct reaction to. They talked big but failed to deliver with us and we think it rather sneaky to get us onboard, at some costs to ourselves, and then drop us fairly soon afterwards, so rude words spring to mind. But there again they owe us nothing and if they get a better deal from S and N against Belhaven they would perhaps be daft not to take it, so slightly less rude words spring to mind. So we think they are twerps.
ANyone know a good pub in Oban looking for Britain's most exclusive beers on tap?

Calmac Blunder
He thought I had and I thought he had and in the end no one gave Calmac the details they need to be able to place an order. So we will do it TOMORROW.

More History at the Brewery
Not only did our salesman become the first, and to date only, fare paying passenger to Colonsay but Islader G-SEIL also bought the first ever proper air freight to the Island.
But don't tell Highland Airways - David told then he was skint and the carboard box was actually a suitcase. No extra charge then, you see.

The Bride and Groom
After much responding to telephone messages from a man call AJ and answering machine ping pong David finally gets hold of the guy.
It seems he is an organiser of Indian weddings in London and the South East and is looking for some beer different to the ubiquitous Cobra. AJ says he read on our website that Colonsay Lager goes well with curry and he reckons it could be just what he needs.
He's not terribly bothered that we are in Scotland - or indeed on a wee island. Send some samples and he'll give it a go. What sort of quantity was he looking for? Some weeks - 50 kegs. One day, one day. True story. Not sure why we felt the need to add that guarantee - these blogs are all true stories.
