Rumour - nothing but rumour
A long time ago in this blog we promised not to get involved in island rumour and controversy. There has of course to be an exception to every rule and here it is.
We have been dogged with suggestions that the Isle of Colonsay Brewing Company Ltd is a third player in the likely Carlsberg Heineken bid for Scottish and Newcastle.

In the words of the brewery's favourite singer, It ain't true babe

Back Scratching Situation
A lady at the market remarked that she had virtually never heard of Colonsay until attending the June Mansfield Park event and falling into conversation with Shirley, wife of the boss.
Shirley painted such a lovely picture that the lady went home and booked a five night stay in the hotel - and had a great time in what she described as a beautiful place, both the hotel and the island.

Remember Me
Well it’s been quiet here now the tourists are leaving and the geese are arriving. However on the Mainland we have finally got enough beer together to make it potentially worthwhile to go back to the Glasgow Farmers Market at Mansfield Park

So 8.30 on Saturday finds the sales executive setting up his stall and one or two of the unkindly fellow traders asking who he is. It was just a two month gap fellows give me a chance. So in a day reminiscent of Colonsay, that is to say sunshine, showers, overcast, grey, windy and bright again all in the space of a few hours we have our best market to date. Sales of all three products go very well; customers seem genuinely pleased to see us back. It was what we hoped for at the start - all the signs are that a regular trade is building up. Would you like a taste? was just as often met with no thanks I've had it before and love it, as yes please.

Sales Sales Sales
Chris was over at the weekend and filled up the regional distribution hub hidden away in the Lothian countryside. Mainland sales are up and running. First call of the day was at our friends in North Berwick

who promptly ordered many cases of beer and just one of lager. Better still the brewery sales executive managed a first for him. He got out of Locketts with a balance of transaction in our favour. Usually he goes in and sells some beer but spoils that by buying a greater quantity of wine.

Heading South
Following on from the failed Birmingham sales operation (see below) we have a success to report. Some guy with a specialist beer shop in London has ordered and paid for six cases of Colonsay ales because he wants to feature an unusual ale for a couple of weeks. Also going is beer from our friends at Islay Ales and Oyster Brewery at Easdale
