All Bar None
We did the birthday bar in the hall last night. Keith Bob and David your smiling staff for the evening - Pint of Lager certainly Sir - can I get you anything else. Staff training paying dividends it seems. All went swimming well with the assembled birthday crowd, swollen by locals and hotel staff - dancing the night away and drinking industrial quantities of IPA and Lager and hardly any 80/-. Perhaps we need to learn a lesson and concentrate on 80/- in the winter and come up with a summer drinking beer. Next year perhaps. Certainly the abstemious bar staff were a credit to healthy living - though there were a couple of run ins over the pork scratchings.

So Far So Good
Some of you may have seen bloated Sir Phillip Green and Kate Moss his supermodel pal opening a Topshop in New York and edeclaring it a great success as security staff had to be on hand to control the Manhattan crowds wanting a piece of the action. A similar seen was to be had here today as the 2009 look Brewery Shop opened for the first time. Whilst we did not need security we were more than pleasantly suprised when a substantial number of folk turned up and bought. The new brewery clothing range received lots of positive comment and off it went out the door. Two ladies even had a tustle over one of the jackets - the only one in the size they wanted. Frirst zipper Tops, then Seasalt smocks - now brewery jackets seem to be the thing to be seen in round the island. One swallow does not make a summer- but so far so good.

Island Invasion Levaes Brewery Excited
When we put beer onto LotI last night our friend the purser said there were 195 passengers which he believed to be an all time record. A lot of the people on the boat are friends of four guys who turn 60 this year and have booked half the island to accommodate their friends and relatives. They're even having a ceilidh next week and have asked us to do the bar (which we are).
Sad to say all our beer had run out before this record cargo embarked - so no Colonsay ales for them which is rather frustrating but one of those thimgs. Hopefully their thrist will last.

Sky Larks - Full Ferry - SUNSHINE - it must be Easter
Sitting here in the brewery as the new 80/- is pumped into the FV looking out over the Firth of Lorne to Jura it is clear spring is here.
There are skylarks in the sky (where else do you expect them? ed)apparently LotI is full tonight and some unbooked cars told they will not get on. Quiz in the hotel last night was buzzing with lots of our beer being sold and the sun is shining.
Suddeenly the gloom and gales of the winter begin to fade from the memory. Top island policeman PC Don McLeod was on patrol this morning - in his boat - and reckons he picked up a few shoals of fish - pollack or cod perhaps - so tonight once the transfer is finished we think its time to head to sea to see if there is anything to catch.
The brewery shop doesn't officially open until (don't breathe a word of it) the Sabbath but already the very first item of the new clothing has sold. Someone came up yesterday as we were bottling and asked kindly to have a look and bought a hoodie. The lengths some people will go to steal a march in the fasion stakes.
That's the transfer finsihed -- we're off.

Long Lunch - Big Ideas
The brewery ladies, and others, enjoyed a long lunch in the early spring sunshine round at Bob's - sitting in the garden drinking Champagne cocktails no less.
A long line of burning issues were analysed at length - and some ideas thrown up.
The ladies decided - near the end of lunch we suspect - that we should have a brewery fashion show - and they would be the models. They'll have forgotten by the morning ---- we won't.
